There’s no easy way to escape the great urban sprawl that is London. Much depends on your
starting point. The easiest way is to simply make your way to the M25, the great ring road that
        encircles the city.

From the south and west of London

Follow the M25 around to Intersection 5.

As you approach Intersection 5 look for blue and white signs on gantries above the road that say
things like “Dover / Channel Tunnel / Maidstone / M26”.

GPS 51.2914, 0.1426 The M26 goes off to the right, you will need to move over to the right hand
lanes to exit on to the M26.

        10.2 mi 51.3086, 0.3679 Merge on to the M20.

        8.0 mi 51.2894, 0.5439 Take the exit on to the A249 (N) s/p “Maidstone / Sheerness / Canterbury
        / Ramsgate”.

0.2 mi Approaching the r/bout, bear left following signs to “Canterbury / Ramsgate”.

        5.7 mi 51.3278, 0.6586 From the r/bout take the 1st exit s/p “Canterbury / Ramsgate / Dover /
M2”. You’ll then make a long left hand loop to merge on to the M2.

12.5 mi 51.2985, 0.9202 The M2 ends and you exit left on to the A2 s/p “Canterbury / Dover /
        Channel Tunnel”

5.3 mi 51.2828, 1.0330 As you approach Canterbury on the A2 you will pass a Texaco petrol
station. Shortly after that look for a sign that indicates “Canterbury / Harbledown / (A28)”. That
will take you on to the A2050 which will take you into Canterbury.

1.4 mi 51.2816, 1.0631 Go straight through the next roundabout, the London Road
Roundabout, s/p “Margate / Ashford / City Centre”. That will take you on to Rheims Way.

0.5 mi At the next roundabout, St Peters Road Roundabout, take the 3rd exit, s/p “Margate /
Ashford / City Centre”. You will remain on Rheims Way, the A290.

0.3 mi At the next roundabout, Wincheap Roundabout, go str. ahd taking the 2nd exit on to Pin
        Hill, the A28.

Expert navigation checkpoint: You should see the stone walls of the city wall on the left.

0.8 mi After going through two roundabouts, look for the Queningate Car Park on the l. That’s
your best bet for local parking. Walk back to Burgate and as you walk along Burgate Canterbury
        Cathedral is on the right.
