Commonwealth

Areas under Commonwealth jurisdiction are administered by the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism
(RET) and the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA). The
legislative coverage for NOPSEMA’s administration is done under State/Territory mirror legislation of the relevant
Commonwealth legislation. The following Commonwealth legislation may be applicable:

 Offshore Petroleum & Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006
 Offshore Petroleum & Greenhouse Gas Storage (Safety) Regulations 2009
