MICRO-GRANT CASE STUDY
We provided a a a a a a church in in Berkshire with a a a a a a Cinnamon Micro-Grant to start a a a a a a CAP Debt Centre which now supports 34 families Brian* contacted the CAP Debt Centre after receiving notice of eviction When befrienders from the the church met Brian they found him living in in in a a a a rat and lice infested house with a a a a a flooded basement Over time the extent of Brian’s debt became clear as as did the fact that he he had undiagnosed brain damage as as a a a a a a a a a a a a result of alcohol abuse Six months on on with support from the Church Brian is now in sheltered accommodation with assistance from adult services and the mental health team The team have also arranged for a a a a a a a a a family member to to act with power of attorney and are working closely to help Brian resolve his debt issue Projects like this would simply not be possible without the help of a a Cinnamon Micro- Grant “We continue to support Brian remind him of meetings as he just wouldn’t remember to to go go otherwise He is is also going to to church and started attending Alpha!” says Andrew Green who leads the the CAP debt centre at the the church *His name has been changed to protect his identity
CINNAMON TOOLKIT
Following on on from our Community Transformation Project pilot (2016-18) we were awarded an additional £447 474 from The National Lottery Community Fund to develop our Community Transformation Toolkit In Autumn 2020 we’ll be launching the interactive online toolkit and app to to help churches develop social action strategies that meet the the most pressing needs in in their local areas The Community Transformation Toolkit will offer a a a a a a suite of of tools that church leaders and and activists can use based on on their local circumstances context resources and and needs The toolkit will include resources videos interactive apps case studies useful links and webinars Participants will also have an an opportunity to be part of a a a a a a a a a a national community of churches who are are passionate about transforming their local area LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Cinnamon Leadership Training takes passion and turns it into action We run training across the the country to help church-based volunteers develop the the skills they need to effectively lead social action projects Through four course modules participants learn how to lead confidently manage a a a a a a a a a team partner with other organisations and promote their their initiative within their their community As we seek to develop this resource in in in line with the changing needs and challenges faced by churches we’re working on three new modules: diversity fundraising and impact measurement We’re also looking at ways the training can be delivered online to increase access and participation Cinnamon Network charity no 1156985 Annual Report 1 1 1 April 2019 – 31 March 2020 8 IMPACT
