road construction & reconstruction with roadcem
To understand the way RoadCem works we have to take a look at the repetitive loads which are typical for roads
when in use; assuming we have a cyclic dynamic loading which is acting through the asphalt to the road base
What does this mean for road construction using RoadCem?
The first thing is that the base layer needed is just a single RoadCem layer which can be constructed using in-
situ material from the existing sub-soils or from recycled road materials. That means that both time and
money will be saved in the construction process.
The use of RoadCem will also increase the modulus of elasticity and the flexibility of the base, so that the
following advantages are realised:-
Looking again at our segment, which is loaded by force “F”. The factor “a” means that because of the higher
modulus of elasticity a higher load is now needed to cause the same amount of deflection. This is the first
advantage of using RoadCem.
After the load has passed the segment, no deformation will remain, because of the high flexibility of the
RoadCem base. Typically a RoadCem stabilised material has 3 times longer durability than conventional road
construction – meaning 3 times longer maintenance intervals.
