On April 17, 2018, U.S. Representative Carolyn P. Maloney of New York introduced the bipartisan
Never Again Education Act at a press conference in Manhattan. Hadassah Executive Director/CEO Jan-
ice Weimar, spoke at this conference. “During the week of Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, the
pledge of Never Again is especially close to our hearts. With anti-Semitism on the rise worldwide, Never Again
Education Act helps us to be vigilant in the fight against hatred, denial, and xenophobia. Hadassah stands
with Congresswoman Maloney and will do its part to make sure this bill is passed” said Ms. Weimar.
Hadassah worked side by side with the Congresswoman to garner support for this bill which will establish a
federal fund at the Department of Education, supported by private donors, to enable teachers around the coun-
try to have access to training and a curriculum guide as well as grants for Holocaust related field trips.

Advocate for equal pay For all the trailblazers tearing down barriers in the workplace, women still only earn
80 cents for every dollar a man earns. Tell your legislators you support the Paycheck Fairness Act which would
update pay equity regulations by requiring justification for pay disparities between male and female employ-
ees doing the same job, and by instituting penalties for discrimination similar to that for race and national
      origin.

Hadassah stands up for Israel in the media. Advocacy has always been an integral part of Hadassah. Keep
up to date on Hadassah’s efforts to demand unbiased reporting on the unfolding situation in Gaza. National
President Ellen Hershkin leads by example in her recent letter to the editor of the Washington Post regarding
      the need for unbiased reporting.

May was Nurses’ Recognition Month. Hadassah celebrated the 100th anniversary of the School of Nursing.
As you can see Hadassah never stops supporting the many causes facing us every day!
Have a wonderful and safe Summer.

Our thanks and appreciation to those who have contrib-
uted to our annual Passover food drive. Items were deliv-
ered to The Chai Center and distributed to needy families
in our area, enabling them to participate in the celebra-
tion of Passover. My sincere thanks and appreciation to
Nitza Weiss for her continued support and dedication to
      this important project.
