DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY GUIDELINES
The Conservation Management Plan (CDMP) has undergone an extensive review process, adding significantly
more detail and structure to the step plan and budgeting process of achieving the listed aims and outcomes in its
implementation.
CONSERVATION DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN
We have updated the Conservation, Development and Management Plan (CDMP) during this reporting period.
COVID-19
For approximately the first three months of the report period this emergency management plan was maintained, with
staff longevity and safety as the priority motivators. During the lockdown period, over 130 staff were maintained on-
site with protocols in place to cater for both salary compensation, food and logistics and forward assistance to family
members in the absence of working breadwinners returning home over that period. During this time, an average of
60 members of staff were maintained in full employment whilst working outside the reserve on routine maintenance
functions focused around security and fence maintenance. No cases of COVID-19 were recorded in this period due
to the preventative measures put in place. Lockdown was released towards the end of May 2020 after discussions
with district and provisional government and labour departments, towards maintaining the presidential decrees and
protocols around the COVID-19 global pandemic. As a result of the national lockdown and border restrictions, several
planned activities and visits for 2020 were postponed and planned to be re-visited in 2021.
