AN EXCITING JOURNEY OF LEARNING & DISCOVERY
You have a kindergartener. You and your child are about to embark together
on an exciting journey of learning and discovery. Kindergarten is a child’s rst introduction to formal education and should serve as a supported transition from the home, early learning and care, and/or preschool environments.
For most children, kindergarten marks their rst steps toward reading and writing correctly, growing their vocabulary, and learning the key fundamentals of math. From recognizing, naming, and writing all 26 letters of the alphabet in upper and lowercase to writing short simple sentences and adding and subtracting small numbers, children will achieve big milestones in kindergarten.
In Weld RE-4 kindergarten classrooms, these important milestones are constantly reinforced by imaginative play. Through play, children make sense of the world around them and get the foundation they need to understand words and numbers. Play also encourages children to ask questions and, most importantly, create their own learning experiences.
YOU ARE YOUR CHILD’S BIGGEST CHEERLEADER
As much as kindergarteners learn in school at this age, they learn just as much at home. Reading to children, asking them to read aloud to you, counting stuffed animals, organizing toys by types, and talking about the time of day and the changing weather of the seasons all contribute to how your child connects to school. It also helps to see you around school or in the classroom. We strongly encourage all of our kindergarten parents to volunteer, attend family nights, and participate in learning experiences in ways that work with their schedules.
With your help, our goal is to inspire a love of learning in our kindergarteners that will continue to grow as they do. We look forward to getting to know you and your child! We hope kindergarten will be the start of a wonderful educational experience in Weld RE-4.
