View from the dugout
It’s been a good couple of weeks for the 1st team. Two weeks ago we seen
off Fleet Town in The FA Vase with a 4-0 victory with goals coming from
Prangs 2, Kain Edmondson & Josh Brace. What made this such a satisfying
result was the fact we played for 45mins with 10 men after Barwood was
sent off just before half time. The whole team dug in during the 2nd half to
get the win.
We then followed this up with a 2-1 victory away to Wellington last
Saturday. This is one of the most difficult grounds to get a result in this
league. And we still had at least seven players missing with two reserve
team players coming in to the side.
The goals came from Keiron Proctor & and an 85 -minute winner from
th
Scadds - and coming from 1-0 down as well.
This brings recent run of results to one defeat in five.
It was far from a good performance but we had 11 players on the pitch that
worked hard for one another for 90 minutes. Lewis Dunn was outstanding
at Centre half keeping the home side top scorer quiet all game.
The new signings are starting to find their feet at the club. Keiron Proctor
& Josh Brace are starting to fit in and showing how important they are to
the team. While young players like George Jones, Jordan Scadding & Kain
Edmondson are starting to adapt to this level and putting in consistent
performances week in week out. And young keeper Calum Heal is putting
in good performances while sharing goalkeeping duties with his Uncle the
evergreen Jason Matthews.
Plus we have the experience of Prangley, White, Dunn, Lewis, Bath,
Barwood for the young players to learn from.
Prangley has also committed to the club after interest from league leaders
Bitton, which speaks volumes of what Perksy is trying to achieve at the
club.
Today will be a tough test against Ashton & Backwell and despite their
tough start will give us a tough game and should not be underestimated.
Next week we travel to Bridgwater United in another hard game.
Enjoy the game.
