Manager’s View
Afternoon everyone
Today we welcome the management, players, officials and
supporters of Frampton United Football Club to Norman Scott park,
for the final match of the 2022/23 Marcliff Gloucester County
league season.
At the time of writing these notes, the first team still have 2
matches left to play in our quest to maintain our County league status. Damo and I have been
very proud of each and everyone of these lads who have all given absolutely everything for
us since we took over, especially the past couple of months, where our run of form has been
outstanding.
In a world where hindsight is a wonderful thing, if we could have put these performances in
a few months back then I am very confident that we wouldn’t be in the situation that we are
in now, but to see the boys pick up 7 points from 9 recently and give ourselves every
opportunity to take it to the wire, shows that they have fought to the very end to get us
where we all want to be.
So, I am keeping everything crossed that as you read this, the boys have managed to gain a
positive result against Little Stoke and results elsewhere have gone our way, which have
allowed the lads to take it to this final game of the season….if that has happened then who
knows, it’s good to dream!!! If not and our time in the County league has come to an end
then I can assure everyone of you reading this that it hasn’t been for the lack of trying by all
of us!
When Damo and I took over, the team were sat on 3 points after 13 matches (league/cup)
and out of all cup competitions so to see us pick up another 17 points from our 18 league
matches and take it to the last 2 games of the season shows a desire and a changing room
that have worn the black and white shirt with pride. Giving up has never been an option for
this group despite the odds against us being so high, so I personally think that each and
everyone of them deserve a lot of credit, which they haven’t been given at times this season,
other than from us inside the changing room.
On a brighter note, the reserves have battled to the very end this season in their league
campaign and with a few matches still to be played also, they have a very good chance of
gaining a top 4 finish which will be a fantastic achievement. Meanwhile, the A’s have had an
unbelievable end to the season including winning 4 and drawing 1 of their final 6 games to
secure their status in division 3 for another year so huge congratulations to Voisey and the
boys……next season could be a very special one for you guys.
On behalf of the management and players at the club, I would like to thank you all as always,
especially to the volunteers behind the scenes who do so much for this football club that we
all take for granted! Thank you also to our fantastic sponsors for your continued support, I
can assure each and everyone of you that it is very much appreciated by us all.
Enjoy your summer break and thank you all again. Up the Patch
