Bris v Longwell Green Sports

Seven minutes later Ricke s put Dodimead in on goal but he was denied by the home keeper's
       outstretched big toe.
Half Time: Longwell Green 0 Brislington 2
The second half was largely uneven ul, and in fact felt a li le like we were just watching a clock
coun ng down rather than a game of football. Willing for the half to end and the tle to be
       confirmed.
It was also as if the hosts had resigned themselves to being unable to break down the table toppers,
showing very li le belief or convic on going forward, and although s ll not passing well the
Brislington back five were u erly resolute when it ma ered, even if some problems were of their
       own making!
May was tested when a rou ne clearance turned into an unnecessary lobbed back pass, which, given
the surface, turned into an awkward clearance for the injured goalkeeper under pressure from a
       Longwell Green frontman.
       TOBIN TRIES HIS LUCK
At the other end there were also very few clear cut chances, Buck had an effort blocked from a ght
angle which was deflected over the bar, and Tobin managed a decent shot from the edge of the box
which was parried away by the keeper a er smartly turning his man. Apart from that effort there was
nothing to trouble the home side’s goal.
The hot weather and the hard pitch were star ng to claim vic ms, with Buck needing to be replaced
by Jones on 60 minutes due to blisters, (keen-eyed observers could see an errant boot flung angrily
from from the Brislington dugout as Buck sat down).
A jaded Jordan Scadding swapped with Joel Smith and Allward replaced Harry Tobin who had been
       struggling with a thigh niggle.
       FOXES FINISH FIRST!
Five minutes later It was Dodimead who was also struggling with blisters, and he was changed for
Josh Egan with McLennan making way for Williams. The game was at a stalemate for the final quarter
of an hour with neither side making the most of any possession and as the final whistle blew there
was more an air of relief rather than that of ela on.
It was a recogni on that the expecta ons that had been levelled at Perks’s squad had now been
fulfilled and the pressure to achieve the presumed outcome was now off, as the ‘presumed outcome’
had been realised. The ela on would flow out in the dressing room with the post match celebra ons,
       along with the bubbly!!
       DOUBLE STILL ON FOR FOXES
Congratula ons are due to Lee, his management team and all the players for a magnificent season
so far, and good luck in trying to finish the season unbeaten. Of course the Foxes not only have the
possibility of racking up 24 consecu ve league wins to keep them compe ve, they s ll have a Semi
Final Les Phillips Cup match against premier division Shepton Mallet to play.
       OLDLAND COMMON UP - TWICE
Next up fourth placed Oldland Abbotonians at home on Monday 16th April, and then again away on
Wednesday the 18th before the final league encounter at home to Hallen on Sat 22nd April.
       Man Of The Match
Jordan Ricke s - A well overdue MOM Jordan’s class and composure all season has been
instrumental in the Foxes tle winning campaign.
