Exmouth Generosity stays off the Field

                                Saturday 20th November 2021
                             Exmouth Town 3 Brislington 0 ATT 370

Yesterday we travelled to Exmouth to play the rearranged game following the abandonment of the
match a few weeks back following Kieron Proctors injury.
We travelled with 11 players missing through suspension, injury & unavailability and Perksy s ll
       serving a ban.
Reserve team players Conner Bryant, Ryan Lynskey, James Auger, Ellio Saunders, Neil Graydon &
Josh Knight we’re all called into the squad. George Dorrington returned in Goal following a short spell
       at Ashton & Backwell.
We always knew it was going to be a tough ask with such a depleted squad. But we went into the
game with a solid game plan to hopefully frustrate the home side.
The home side started more on the front foot but we’re finding us hard to break down. Bryant was
keeping the tricky le winger quiet & Tanner in the middle of the park was working hard to break up
       the play.
We were star ng to grow in to the game and on 30mins Tanner made a great tackle the ball fell to
Dunn who whipped in a great cross which Auger was only inches from with a diving header.
On 39mins we came close to breaking the deadlock Kington tried his luck with a free kick from 40+
yards which rebounded of the bar. We got to half me at 0-0 which we throughly deserved from a
       hard workin performance.

We came out and started the 2nd half well. On 48mins a cross to the back post found Scadds in space
unfortunately he couldn’t connect with the ball properly but the keeper somehow managed to let
the ball through his legs to give us a corner.
The game was s ll anyones for the taking but all our hard work was star ng to take its toll on us and
we were becoming sloppy with our passing.

On 68mins the home side forced a corner which was swung in and out into his own net by the
impressive Tanner not what we deserved at all. A minute later it was 2 -0 a ball in found an unmarked
Exmouth player who headed home despite Dorrington’s best effort to keep it out.
We were now running on fumes a er working so hard for 70mins Graydon & Knight came on for the
ring Auger & Saunders to get sone fresh legs on.
On 87mins the home side finished the game off with a 3rd when the forward got the be er of
       Lynskey and finish well.

       FT 3-0
Probably not a true reflec on on the game as we worked so hard for 90mins and not one player le
anything out on the pitch. No doubt if we could have nicked the lead with the chances we had before
half me we may have seen a different outcome.

Thank you to Exmouth for their hospitality top notch as always and for the collec on they made at
half me for Kieron Proctor. And fair play to their chairman for sending us home with a few beers

We now have 2 home games to come against Shepton Mallet next week followed by the visit of new
       boys Millbrook.
