Mallet Nail Down the Points
Saturday 27th November 2021
Brislington 1 Shepton Mallet 4 ATT 102
Scorer Josh Brace 60mins
On a cold Saturday a ernoon we welcomed Shepton Mallet to Ironmould Lane.
Captain Sco Lewis was injured & last weeks star man Robbie Tanner broke
down on the way to the game.
We welcomed back White, Jones, Brace, McCormack & Barwood a er injuries
& suspensions.
We started poorly and the away side came at us from the start and we causing
problems. If not for poor finishing we would have been 2 or 3 down in the no
me.
We could not get a foothold in the game and Shepton were be er than us all
over the park.
On 20mins the away side got what they deserved and went 1-0 from a corner.
Would this spur us in to life. No not really, Shepton con nued to apply pressure
but could not find the 2nd either due to poor finishing or Dorrington making
saves.
In 41mins Lewis Ewins had to come off due to injury and was replaced by
Reserve team manager who had just played 65 mins for them.
Pearty took up a central midfield role to try and stop the away side onslaught.
Surprisingly we got to HT at 1-0 and some serious words from Fordy in the
changing rooms.
This seemed to spur us on and we started a different side forcing the Shepton
keeper in to a couple of decent saves. We then forced 3 consecu ve corners
and looked like we turned the corner.
On 60mins we got the equaliser. A great ball from Kington found Jones who
worked hard to force a shot which the keeper failed to deal with. Josh Brace
was on hand for an easy finish from the rebound.
Then the away side started to apply more pressure to us and we just couldn’t
match their work rate. They retook the lead on 80mins before adding another
2 to see out the game worthy 4-1 winners.
Except for a 15 min spell in the 2nd half we simply were not good enough and
need to get out of this li le rut we have got into. And it certainly won’t be easy
over the 3 games up to Christmas
