A few words from the manager...
RUARDEAN HILL RANGERS 1 - 3 FILTON ATHLETIC (1st March 2025)
“A great result on Saturday and a nice first time experience for the lads, all travelling
together on the minibus. Everyone was in good spirits on the journey up with plenty of
banter. Another first for the team and the club and also a proud moment personally.
The first half performance showed our intentions to correct the reverse fixture and I
thought we were exceptional for 35 minutes, totally dominant all over, we pressed the ball
very well and created so many chances. Unfortunately the minibus may have got to our
talisman’s head as young Treydon couldn’t hit a barn door! He was unfortunate to have a
goal chalked off for offside, another dubious shout. However, fortunately the skipper and
our big number 9 stepped up to send us in 2 nil up at half time.
The second half was much of the same, dominating all over the pitch and only the
woodwork keeping Coops from getting his second of the game. As the chances kept
coming and were being missed, it was big Coops who again stepped up with another well
taken goal to finish the game off.
It was disappointing to concede a goal at the death and with 2 disallowed goals and so
many chances we really should of scored more. But other then the final 10 minutes a great
performance and fantastic team day out for the lads. Great hospitality from our hosts too it
must be said.
Just 5 more points needed now and we are safe and can look to build for next season, a
massive test next against Totterdown Utd. I know they where missing personnel at the start
of the season which is why they are in the position they are at the minute, but having
played them in a few crunch games over the past few seasons and losing all of them; this
Saturday will be probably be the toughest test we have had in a while.”
