Nick’s Notes. The Resies
Two games to bring you up to date with since my last report. First
up a very difficult game away to Peasedown who are currently 2 nd
in the table and were unbeaten in 4 league games. Not only are
they a very good footballing side but their supporters are very
partisan and can be very intimidating home or away but we
maintained our good form of late and kept the crowd quiet. Twenty
minutes in, a great through ball from Lee Dunsford was collected
by Sonny Stiddard who smashed the ball into the back of the net
to put us one up. It stayed that way for the entire game we kept
possession well and defended excellently which was even more
impressive after losing our captain Lewis Smart to an ankle injury
after 15 minutes. A fantastic team performance to keep us top of
the table with just one defeat in 9 league games.
Next up was a cup tie home to Broad Plain. This was a very
entertaining encounter between two sides in very good form , both
sides looking to play decent passing football but unfortunately the
final pass for both sides let us down and both defences came out
on top in a competitive 0-0 over 90 minutes. So it came down to
the dreaded shootout, the quality of the penalties was excellent
and it took a great save by Emanuel Pullara diving low to his right
to deny Cameron Main with our visitors winning 8-9.
Again we come away with our heads held high we kept our 4 th
consecutive clean sheet and another solid performance. We also
played the last 20 minutes with ten men due to our substitute
having to come off with yet another ankle injury.
Next up for us another tough test away to 7 placed Banwell.
