Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good afternoon and welcome to the Lancer
Scott for this afternoon‘s visit of Saltash United.
I hope their supporter’s officials and players
enjoy their day with us and have a safe journey
back down the M5. We will have a minutes
silence for Remembrance Sunday so we may all
pay our respects to all those heroes who fought
and died in the line of duty to keep us free.
The last two weeks has seen us start clocking up
the motorway miles with coach journeys to
Helston and Exmouth, both were excellent
hosts, thank you particularly to the supporters
who made the 366 mile round trip to Helston whilst we didn’t get the points we did
have an enjoyable day and lively coach journey back. Today is the first of two
consecutive home games, next week we host promotion chasing Bitton which I
suppose we now regard as a derby match considering the geography of our
division.
Saltash were a very famous and successful name in the Western league during the
80s and returned to the South Western league in 1994, actually the year Backwell
won promotion to the Premier division of the Western league. Saltash did make a
brief return to the Great Millls Western league from 2004-2006 before returning to
the South-Western competition. Today’s visitors will provide very tough opposition,
they have made a very good start of the campaign and currently sitting ninth
position. Today’s visitors will provide very tough opposition, they have made a very

Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please respect the officials.
