Nick’s Notes. The Resies
Just the one game to report on and that was our away fixture to Radstock
. The game started brightly with the Stags dominating proceedings 10
minutes in we had put the ball into the net only for it to be ruled off for
off side. 5 minutes later after some more dubious decisions we had yet
another goal ruled out for off side. Keep plugging was the shout from our
dugout . Then on 20 minutes on the half way line Jack Stevens slipped
allowing the Radstock winger a rare opportunity to run into our half he
rushed clear drew our keeper Joel Mannins and squared the ball to the
onrushing forward to make it an unlikely lead. Our boys were not phased
and kept moving the ball quickly from one side of the pitch to another
looking for gaps and opportunities. Then on 30 minutes Cam Main was
fouled out on the left flank, Jason Radnedge curled a delicious free kick
into the box and Sonny Stiddard headed home 1-1. 35 minutes Cam Main
on the left checked back moved the ball onto his right foot and delivered
a peach of a ball that was volleyed home spectacularly by Paul Uppington
a finish to light up any game and goal of the season contender. The
second half came and the story remained the same Radstocks rear guard
were proving hard to break down we put on our substitutes Thomas
Smart for Will Solari Wilf Bond for Cam Main and Joel Bayliss for Jake
Flower. It almost had an instant impact Bayliss jinked his way past several
players before being cynically brought down on the edge of the box.
Thomas Smart stepped up to take the resulting free kick bending the goal
bound effort around the wall bringing off an excellent save fron the
keeper turning the ball past the post. Still we kept creating chances
Uppington on the right crossing twice for Smart to volley goal wards only
to see the efforts first saved then blocked on the line. Late on Smart
played the ball into Uppingtons path only to see his effort go just over
the bar. All in all this was a very impressive team performance and we
look forward to taking our form into our next game away to Glastonbury
on 29th
