Bris v Hengrove Athle c

The second half saw the visitors star ng s ll with eight players but their work rate didn’t
falter. However the hosts looked more assured in possession and were star ng to move
the ball be er, exploi ng the considerable gaps. Within 10 minutes of the restart it was
Four, Danny Doddimead with two early strikes sealed Hengroves fate.

The first was turned in at the near post a er good work from Joe Mclennan who beat his
defender and pulled the ball back for Doddimead to nip in and finish.

The second was a clinical trademark sharp turn by the lively forward which saw him one
on one with the keeper, Doddimead calmly li ing it over the advancing shotstopper. 4-0 54
       minutes played.

S ll undeterred Hengrove worked hard and posi vely a empted to get bodies forward but
their ring legs were unsurprisingly making it hard work, and the Foxes although s ll not
       fluid, were firmly in control.

Perks made a number of changes in between Doddimeads two neat finishes, removing
Jones, Scadding and Smith for Egan, Withey and Ricke s in a midfield swap, and shortly
a er McLennan and Griffiths made way for Jordan Williams and Oaklan Buck who didn’t
take too long to make their mark.

Buck beat two men cu ng in from the le and pulled the ball back to Williams who
finished low to the keepers le with his unfavourable right foot. With 74 minutes gone it
       was 5-0 Brislington.

With five minutes to go returning Skipper Asa White made it six. A er Egan and White
manufactured a cross from the right; the ball was cleared back to White who headed in to
Doddimead on the edge of the 18 yard box, he then con nued his run past the forward
who back heeled the ball back into White's path. S ll with work to do the ex Hengrove
player cut inside one defender at full pace the fired an outswinging shot with the top of his
foot that flew in at the near post giving the keeper no chance. 6-0, job done!

But plucky Hengrove were s ll not deterred and pushed forward to gain a consola on goal
in me added on, which in all honesty they deserved for their endeavour a er playing 60
minutes with ten men against the reigning league champions notwithstanding the 2 sin
bins received in the middle of the game.
