Manchester City swoop for Angeldahl
Manchester City Football Club is delighted to announce
the signing of Swedish international Filippa Angeldahl
on a two-year deal with an option of a further year,
subject to international clearance.
The Uppsala-born midfielder joins from Swedish
champions BK Häcken in her homeland, the
Gothenburg-based club who absorbed City's 2020-21
UEFA Women's Champions League Round of 32
opponents Göteborg FC late last year.
The 24-year-old has spent the entirety of her
career so far playing in her native Sweden for Vaksala SK,
IK Sirius, AIK, Hammarby - where she was awarded the
Damallsvenskan Most Valuable Player accolade in 2017 -
and Linköpings FC.
On the international stage, she has represented Sweden at senior level since 2018,
boasting 15 caps so far including six at the recent Olympic Games where she helped the
Blue & Yellow to a silver medal, playing 75 minutes in the showpiece final against Canada.
Fresh from her Tokyo adventure, Angeldahl has put pen to paper on a two-year
contract with an option of an additional year at the Academy Stadium.
Speaking about her move, she said: "I am very excited to join Manchester City. It's
a huge club and I can't wait to start working with the team.
"For me, I feel like now is the right moment to take the next step in my career and I
feel like City are the best choice for me to do that.
"As a player, I always want to win and that is why I chose this Club as they match
my ambitions."
Head Coach Gareth Taylor added: "We're delighted to have added Filippa to our
squad ahead of the start of the new league campaign - she is a talented player and will fit
into our style of play well.
"We were impressed by her when she played against us in the Champions League
last season and we're now excited to work with her over the next few years."
Arsenal sign Tobin Heath
Arsenal have announced that double FIFA World Cup winner and double Olympic
Champion Tobin Heath has signed for the club.
In a glittering career, the experienced forward has won 177 caps and scored 35 goals
for the United States national team. In addition to two World Cups and two Olympic Gold
Medals, Tobin has also won two NWSL titles, two CONCACAF Women's Championships
and an Olympic Bronze medal.
She has also won several personal accolades, including being named in the FIFPro
Women's World 11 in 2020 and winning US Soccer Female Athlete of the Year in 2016.
Tobin's club career started with college team North Carolina Tar Heels and she has
gone on to play for several sides in the US and Europe, including Paris St-Germain,
Portland Thorns and most recently, Manchester United.
Arsenal Women's Head Coach, Jonas Eidevall told www.arsenal.com: "Tobin's
record speaks for itself. She's an incredibly talented player who will bring so much
experience to our squad. This is an exciting time for the club, and I'm delighted we could
