From the dugout
A few words from the manager...
SNEYD PARK FIRST 0 - 11 FILTON ATHLETIC (GFA Cup - 19th October 2024)
“A great result obviously, especially considering its always been a tough place
to go (for us at least!). The chaos before games up in the downs league is
something to behold.
We didn’t start the game as well as we wanted and I was frustrated that we
constantly tried to force the difficult pass when easier options were available.
We managed to finish the first half with a 3 goal lead, two of those scored by
our opponents (possibly even the third if you watch it back, but we’ll let Coops
have it).
There was a big improvement in the second half, we maintained possession of
the ball for big spells which tired out our opponents. We started to exploit the
spaces this created by making the right decisions at the right times. We
scored some great goals in the second half and credit goes to the lads who
still had the memories of losing to this same team on penalties last season;
they wanted to make a statement and put that game to bed and they did just
that. This shows just how much we have improved as a team in the last year.
The GFA Cup was a nice break from the pressure of surviving in the
Gloucester County League, but we are back to business this Saturday with a
tough game against another well established team in Ruardean Hill Rangers.”
