Vase triumph at Oldland
It was the la er combina on that brought the opening score, McLennan’s run inside allowed Tobin
to over lap and his cross come shot stretched the goalkeeper who could only finger p the ball into
his own net. 68‘ mins, Oldland 0, Brislington 1, a long me coming but fully deserved
Four minutes later it could have been two. A strong run from Buck saw him play in George Jones who
had med his own run to perfec on, and under pressure from the recovering defenders Jones lob
shot from the le side of the area with his right foot floated just wide of the top corner.
Jones who’d worked relessly in the midfield was replaced by Egan and it wasn’t long before
Brislington had doubled their lead Ricke s showing the home side how it’s done from the penalty
spot a er Scadding had been brought down by a rash challenge.
The game was effec vely won at this point and although the home side kept plugging away they
could do very li le to stop the visitors who were now moving the ball with confidence and crea ng
chances from all areas of the pitch. The best goal of the game was saved for last and it was provided
by Oaklan Buck in the 85th minute. A er cu ng inside from the right, across the pitch, and just
outside the area, Buck took the bouncing ball with one touch and volleyed the ball with the next,
looping his shot into the top corner of the goalkeepers near post, the Oldland shot stopper gave a
valiant go at keeping Bucks shot out however it was to no avail as again his finger ps couldn’t get
enough purchase on the ball to prevent the goal. There was s ll me for Ben Withey to go close a er
a nice move, the goalkeeper ge ng the upper hand on this occasion.
The result was a fair reflec on on the game, given the Visitors dominance however things could have
been very different had the incident at the end of the first half gone the way of the hosts!!
Final Score: Oldland 0 Brislington 3
