David's connection with the taxi industry started with his
parents who owned and operated their own taxi in Newcastle
in the 70s and 80s. He also drove taxis in Newcastle for NSW Point to Point Transport Commission
several years between stints working at Woolworths. David Tooze, Acting Executive Director
In 1997, he commenced work as a Compliance Officer in
the then Department of Transport, and apart from two years
working in the travel industry has been involved in regulating
taxis and hire vehicles since that time.
