For fiscal year 2020 (June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020) volunteers at the DCCS office have provided
          150 hats/turbans and/or scarves, 176 wigs and 42 breast prosthesis and/or bras. Our volunteers
also assisted 1,250 visitors and answered 660 telephone calls. Our volunteers logged 2,551.20
hours and we provided 290 services to cancer patients.
During this time period, Douglas County cancer patients came to us with many different
types of cancer including anal, breast, brain, bladder, cervical, colon, endometrial,
esophageal, follicular lymphoma, leukemia, lymphoma, liver, lung, larynx, malneoplasm,
mesothelioma, multiple myeloma, ovarian, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, pancreatic, prostrate,
rectal, stomach, uterine and waldenstroms macroglobulinemia.
We had a challenge this year with the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to close our
office for two and one-half months. We assisted patients remotely however this was difficult
for many patients. We did post signage at our office door and put notices on our website
and Facebook page however we are aware some patients were not able to access this
information. Given this circumstance, we are very grateful for our donors, sponsors and
grantors who assisted us with funding to help as many patients as possible.
If you know of a cancer patient who is receiving treatment and would like information
how DCCS may assist them, please refer them to our website at
http://www.dccancerservices.com/programs.html They may also visit or call our office Monday
through Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 for more information.
It is an honor to assist cancer patients, help to ease their burden and allow for them to
          focus on healing.
The DCCS Board of Directors constantly strive to provide support and services to cancer
patients. If you or anyone you know is in need of the support and services DCCS provides, please
          contact us.
