        Enjoy a comprehensive overview of Arica and the attractions just
        outside the city limits, which range from a Gustave Eiffel-designed
        church to ancient geoglyphs.

        After departing from the pier, you will soon arrive at El Morro, a high
        bluff that overlooks the seaside city. Arica was founded in 1570 and was






























        part of Peru until Chile claimed the city and surrounding land following
        the War of the Pacific in 1883. El Morro was the site of a crucial Chilean
        victory in that war and a memorial now stands there.

         You will delve even deeper into the local history at the San Miguel de
        Azapa Archaeological Museum. Exhibits reveal the intricacies of several
        ancient cultures and include some of the world’s oldest mummies,
        which predate the ones in Egypt by more than 3,000 years. Other
