The all-star duo of Continental GT and the new Bentayga SUV make up 90% of Bentley sales, and the original Bentayga laid fair claim to being the fastest most powerful SUV on the planet – thanks to a 6.0-liter, twin-turbo, 600 horsepower W12 and a top speed of 187 miles per hour.
And the big Bentayga news for 2019 is... less. Slightly. If you’d like to have all the luxury and o -road capability that the Bentayga o ers, but don’t really need that silky-smooth monster of a motor under the hood, then the new, optional 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V delivering 542 hp and a 180 top speed may be just your speed. And if you like your performance served up with a side order of environ- mental consciousness, a hybrid Bentayga with a 429 horsepower, 3.0-liter, twin-tur-
bo v-6 engine is in the pipeline. Naturally, the Bentayga V8 is just as hand-crafted as its sibling and either comes standard with, or o ers as an option, every item of luxury or technolo- gy you can imagine with price starting at $165,000.
The Bentley Flying Spur and Mulsanne are the company’s two top-of-the-line cars, and both carry on into 2019 relative- ly unchanged. The big news here is the W.O. Edition Mulsanne by Mulliner. Only 100 will be built worldwide, and if you act fast, you can order your W.O. Edition in the standard version with a 6.75-liter V-8 engine producing 505 horsepower, the ‘Speed’ model with horsepower upgrad- ed to 530, or even the Mulsanne Extend- ed Wheelbase model.
Distinguishing the W.O. Edition are an even more luxurious assortment of materials, colors and nishes, an interior design informed by the concept of “lux- ury living in the 1930s” and an exqui- site, hand-crafted, illuminated cocktail cabinet between the rear seats that also acts as a display for a priceless piece of automotive history... a piece cut from the exact crankshaft that belonged to W.O. Bentley’s very own 8-Liter.
