GivingPoint Project Report

One recommendation we have is to hire a contract or part-time grant writer since it is not economically feasible to hire one full time. This will allow GivingPoint to add a key position to their staff that will be solely dedicated to generating revenue, so that the other staff can focus on their primary activities. While this will be an added cost, the part time aspect indicates that is a cheaper option because of the limited hours. Furthermore, the advantage of having someone with this expertise increases the likelihood of receiving grants due to their knowledge and possible contacts and affiliates with people in the industry. There are two main routes this for obtaining a grant writer:
(1) Grant consulting firm: GivingPoint may hire a part time grant writer from a grant consulting firm that provides options for different packages based on time periods; either less than six months or six months to one year, or based on the number of assignments or grants requested to apply for. A few firms that offer these services include:
a. Palmetto Grant Consulting
b. Think + Ink Grant Consulting
(2) Independent contractor: This is the cheaper option. GivingPoint may hire a part time independent grant writer with contacts in the industry in order to obtain grants.
