All the cars were parked and displayed like world cup winners, their drivers and navigators enjoying a well-earned gala dinner while the residents of Parma partied in the street. I climbed back into the cab of my Ram Rebel swung around and headed northeast toward Brescia.A short hop of about an hour and forty minutes and I was driving through the city centre of Brescia. The home to the Mille Miglia museum and the start/ fnish point of the race, I’d decided to book my hotel here for the night and have a leisurely Sunday morning. As I drive through the centre the streets packed with young people, music played and the roads were blocked off by police. I turned into my very 1970’s 4 star hotel, hardly getting the Ram through the entrance gates, but once inside I managed to ease her round to the car park, the underground garage, although keeping the cab cool for morning, was not designed with such a gruesome lump of a car in mind. As I checked in I asked the receptionist why all the people were in town... His answer was very simple.... It’s Saturday... What other excuse do you need for a massive street party in Italy? Love it.105
