107Pushing the Ram through the Alpine section as I leave Italy behind and cross into Austria, the Hemi just delivers power as you need it, the air suspension drops the truck lower as I pass everything in sight, this is just pure fun and I’m loving this Ram. In no time at all I arrive at my hotel, so here’s the tricky bit. Parking in a city. The Ram is not really designed with a busy European city in mind, it’s wider than most spaces and hangs over the ends of most bays and the underground car parks were built by architects who thought a Ram was a male sheep. I circled the block twice then found a spot right by the hotel, fortunately the spaces were “herringboned” into the curb so I could squeeze her tight into my passenger side and still manage to actually open my door. I looked back as I walked up the street, my pickup bed was about a metre clear of all the other cars, maybe not the best vehicle for city use.Early the following morning it’s raining when I climb back into the Rebel and weave through the Munich traffc to return the truck to AEC. As my taxi takes me to Flughafen Munchen, I’m missing the Ram already, I love the command driving position, to be honest it felt like the Range Rover... and the cabin had all the toys, maybe not up to the quality of the Range Rover or the Bentayga for that matter, but equally good fun to drive and it would certainly give them both (even Bentley’s W12) a serious run for their money from a standing start. The Ram has personality, it’s fun, it’s fast, it drives really well and you can load almost a metric tonne in the pick-up bed and sit four (or fve) in comfort. This was the absolute defnition of SUV, a sport utility vehicle. If you don’t mind the left hand drive and the sheer size, it’s less than half the price of a Range Rover and a fraction of the Bentayga. I love it, the Ram Rebel is a great fun truck that blows the doors of most 4x4’s, but certainly not for the shy and retiring type.... It certainly made my Mille Miglia experience even better than I expected. We’ll be back at the Mille Miglia this year taking over a street side restaurant in Palma for the evening.
