With the F1 season just starting, displaying some of the most dramatic rules changes in the last decade and with new owners at the helm, surely 2017 will deliver something more exciting than trying to guess which Mercedes will win. Lights Out in Melbourne will have already happened in March and then 19 more races are offered up in the far fung corners of the earth. The F1 circus rolls into Europe with Barcelona in May, a cool city on any occasion but when F1 hits town, with the Alonso effect it’s a great place to be and the circuit de Catalunya is one of the best. Make sure you get to a race or two this season, the cars are wider, the tyres are fatter and there is always the after parties at Amber Lounge at selected races. The Paddock Life team will be at a fair fewrounds this year including the regular pilgrimage to Monaco, a race that everyone has to do at least once, to suck in the heritage of motorsport and to see how frankly ridiculous it is to try and race modern cars on a tight street circuit. Paddock Life will of course fnish up at our favourite in Abu Dhabi in November. The boys with the real kahunas, in my opinion, throw a leg over the Moto GP machines, starting the season in Qatar in March with the pack chasing the supreme talent of Marc Marquez who left the likes of Rossi and Lorenzo in his wake last year. 18 races of the most exciting action you will witness on tarmac spinning around the globe, our favourite being the season opener under the foodlights. Closer to home and for those who couldn’t wait for F1 to come to Europe, you probably took a trip down to the South Coast and the delights of Goodwood in early spring for the kick off to the calendar – the Members Meeting on the 18th and 19th March was worth a visit and it has become very popular in recent years.
