WINE AND DESIGN
In our quest to nd interesting stories that we feel have some relevance to our readers we have discovered a small company based in the south of Poland in the Carpathian foothills around the city of New Sącz, who are designing, creating and producing special furniture called ART FURNITURE. The company is
called DUE.
DUE was created and established by the successful Polish business man and wine lover, Jarosław Kowalik, at rst Jaroslaw treated Due more like a hobby, just creating some furniture for his home, but when friends and business colleagues told him how beautiful those products were, his natural entrepreneurial gene kicked in and the hobby turned very quickly into a business. So, together with his friend Irek, who is responsible for the production and Monika, the designer behind the Due creations the team started to develop their rst range of furniture.
Kowalik’s greatest hobby is wine; he has a very broad knowledge of the wine regions around the world and the wines they produce. He would make regular pilgrimages with his friends to taste and stock his wine cellars whilst having fun. It was in his own cellar at tasting when thought why not to reuse the fantastic materials of the wine barrels oak and transform it into a beautiful piece of furniture. This idea ran in his head for a while and he realised that in the region where he lives, there are a wealth of old barns and
