eld make for a fabulous spectacle. GT racing is one of the few series where a paying spectator can access the open paddock and stand next to these machines as they drive to the line. We get our shots and head back to the car to drive into Barcelona.
As we sweep into the forecourt of the W Hotel in Barcelona we are both hungry, it’s been a long day so as soon as we check in and set the computer up to work, we plug in the camera cards to download and head out for dinner. One of my favourite bars is right out on the beach here and a great place for a sundowner cocktail, but the weather isn’t “beach bar” so we head out of the hotel’s beach exit turn right and directly into the rst of a line of bars and restaurants that sit directly under the W Hotel. It was no accident that we went into the rst one, no, this is Pez Vela a fantastic authentic, but chic Spanish restaurant. I order a great bottle of local wine and we get a selection of tapas before our main courses. Pez Vela has a great atmosphere in an even greater location, the staff are cool and attentive and the food is delicious, so our evening ew past. I get the cheque and am pleasantly surprised. We had arranged to meet the guys from one the teams for a drink, so I suggested Ocaña, in Plaça Reial, just of Las Ramblas which is always good fun, the food is great, but the atmosphere and music are very cool – any place that the door is run by two 50 year old trannys has to be good. We sat outside on the square for a bottle of wine, then they had to head back to their hotel, so we decided to call it a night and grab a cab back to the W.
