Fiddi has recently become an ambassador for the charity, which I must admit I hadn’t heard of, thanks to a handy iPad I watched a short video on the WildAid site. Watch it. And immediately put Paddock Life at Fiddi’s disposal for any way we can help.
The third biggest illegal global trade is wild animals, just behind Arms running and human traf cking and none of us would condone the last two, so it’s time to open some eyes. That is what WildAid is doing, it has global ambassadors from sportsman to Hollywood starts, Jackie Chan, Leonardo Di Caprio and Rob Lowe to drop a few names. The illegal trade in ivory and wild animals has devastated the population of the animals to critical levels and where laws and measures are being taken internationally to stop the trade there is one sure re way to bring it to its knees – stop buying the products.
The Asian market is a big consumer; where traditionally an elite few would partake of such “luxuries” as Sharks Fin Soup” the growing economy and new money has broadened the market. Thousands of sharks are caught, their ns removed, then mercilessly thrown back into the ocean to die. WildAid has reduced this by raising awareness, decreasing the market and therefore reducing the price per ton for the poachers the aim being to make it not worth doing.
73 million sharks are killed every year for soup! And it’s not poor people eating the soup...
Fiddi opened my eyes to this mindless consumerism that is destroying our wildlife and planet. He’s gotten involved and is part of the process to reduce and maybe stop the decline. Paddock Life are going to do what we can, even if it’s only bringing you updates and facts through future issues. So for now take a look at the website Wildaid.org – you’ll be shocked, hopefully into action.
If we stop buying the goods, they’ll stop poaching the animals.
