   area created. Things were looking good. A Champagne bar for the end of the day, a few occasional tables, the centre one being made from a pair of Lotus exhaust manifolds, a sofa and two seats. Then there was the coffee bar, complete with bar stools and a changing room in the corner. A very well thought out set up. A large high resolution TV screen played motorsport movies and a full multi axis driving simulator sat opposite the TV.
We were introduced to the team and shown through to the front of the garage, four cars sat in the garage with black and green branded covers. Once we were all in the garage they we ceremonially revealed as the team peeled back the covers. Two Lotus 3 Eleven’s a Ferrari 458 Challenge car and the jewel in the crown, a brand-new Ferrari 488 GT Challenge car - all branded in the distinctive D2P almost black mat grey with the yellow/green lines. A row on sponsorship logos sitting neatly across the sills discreetly displaying their partnerships in such a subtle way that they were almost more noticeable than if they were splashed un aesthetically on the  anks of these gorgeous machines.
I was asked if I’d like to christen the simulator, to which I apprehensively obliged. I’m not a video gamer at all and am hopeless at driving games when my sons get me on the Xbox. I was strapped into the race seat with a full four-point harness and the large screen in front of me had today’s circuit of Spa Francorchamps displayed on the screen. My car was selected, the 488 Challenge and I was passed the virtual reality headset to put on.
I was now in a different world, the simulator was started, and I applied some throttle, this was weird, it didn’t feel like a video game, it felt like car
