 Lasting memory from Barcelona, empty pit lane and me the only photographer in the snow freezing my backside off, only to be joined by the McLaren of Alonso, one of the few to brave the snow that morning.
As we go to press we’ve just watched Ferrari steal Mercedes’s thunder down under, after some blinding qualifying laps that saw the Mercedes of Hamilton break the track record, we had an interesting opening race.
It would seem that in race trim we have a number of competitive cars this season. Ferrari held pace with Mercedes, and indeed Vettel went on to win the race with teammate Raikkonen taking third to sandwich Hamilton’s Mercedes. Red Bull were right up there on the pace, but the surprising contenders were Haas, with many saying they are running last seasons Ferrari. We say who cares, lets see more cars that are capable of getting in the mix and giving us some interesting racing. We’ve yet to see how the pink panthers of Forces India are going to fair as Albert Parks’ restricted opportunity for overtaking didn’t allow them to stretch their legs. The Renault seem to have a decent package and we’ll see what Williams can turn out as their drivers settle in to the new season.
