the systems and mechanics working in tandem, and Sauber with their Alfa Romeo partnership seem to have their work cut out to ght their way off the back of the grid. It will have to do a lot of learning on track to achieve this. It could ask its big brother in Italy for some pointers.
I must leave the last words to Mr Ecclestone, although I doubt these will be his last words. In an interview with the guardian, after denouncing the current hybrid engines for years.
“We still own the name Formula One, we still have contracts with promoters, let’s make different types of cars, let’s speak to the manufacturers and start a new all electric Formula, A Formula One for the future. Can’t we do this? The manufacturers provide the cars themselves but we aren’t going to pay them because they get massive worldwide publicity. It would be a super Formula E, If you like. You can make the cars be like an F1 car and the only thing you would miss would be the noise and I do not believe that people could not come up with something to make more or less the old F1 noise. They (Liberty) would need to have the balls to do it today. I think they will have to do it.”
This was after a long lunch with Formula E founder Alejandro Agag, pass the pinch of salt please Bernie.
