Friday is ladies day, the perfect excuse for everyone to get dressed up. The hat selection was amazing, even our Paddock Life team had made a special effort. John and I were put in the shade by Jenny’s edgy skater-girl take on summer dresses and hats, despite being insulted on the way in by our “friend” from Zenvo (some people just have no class) she had the fashion photographers snapping all day. A spectacular lunch of Lobster and Lamb Kebabs accompanied by a selection of great salads was served, washed down with endless glasses of “bubbles” or the perfect Pimms.
The great thing about this occasion is you meet so many interesting people, like the documentary photographer and his lovely daughter we shared a table with for lunch, he had his Yellow Dino in Saturday’s auction, but I got the impression he was secretly hoping it wouldn’t sell. After lunch was the supercar parade which we viewed from a sunny table outside the Chubb Marquee with “friend of Paddock Life”, the marvellous Marchella De Angelis, who was rocking a Silver Biker jacket with her lace and denim jeans, looking amazing. Her Ferrari Daytona took home a trophy at last years Concours, but this year she was with a crew of ladies who all took part in her V8 Rally earlier this summer. There were so many people to talk to both old friends and new that we barely managed to see all the cars on Ladies Day before we had to leave to get John on the flight to Monza.
Saturday morning, Jenny and I returned to Blenhiem for the 70th Anniversary Ferrari tribute, which also marked the inaugural Salon Privé Masters Concours, making the event the first ever double Concours with a stunning line up of 52 fabulous Ferraris. The line up included the oldest UK Ferrari,
