The Club’s wine list features over 500 wines by the glass and a collection of 2,500 bottles. We are able to do this thanks to the extensive sub-basement cellars, that allows 67 Pall Mall to hold thousands of cases of the fnest and rarest wines in the world in addition to Members’ personal cellar– on the premises. In the 1800s, gentlemen would store their wine at their Club to consume. 67 Pall Mall now continues this tradition; Members may store two cases (Duty Paid) in 67 Pall Mall’s cellar, to enjoy by the bottle in the Members lounge as and when they please. Our state−of−the−art wine cellar extends through most of the Club’s sub−basement; a bespoke air handling system maintains the temperature between 13−14 degrees centigrade and 65−70% humidity. The innermost sanctum of our cellar is our Chatwood “Invincible” Strongroom. This is where we store the fnest and rarest examples in the Club’s and our Members’ collections. To assist Members in their choices, our wine list is available as a searchable list on iPads; loaded with winemakers’ notes, tasting notes and critics’ scores. Further expert guidance is available from our Master Sommelier and team of wine professionals, whose aim is to engage with and inspire Members as they make their selections – whatever their level of wine knowledge.Unlike most wine lists in the Capital, ours works on the basis of a small cash mark-up, rather than a multiple of the cost price. It has been said that life is too short to drink bad wine. We agree wholeheartedly, and believe that our fair pricing structure will entice our Members to broaden and deepen their fne wine experiences.Members also receive exclusive access to 67 Pall Mall’s wine events calendar which includes Château dinners, Château Masterclasses and themed tastings. Past events include…1961, 1964 & 1967 Barolo MasterclassMasterclass dinner with Pierre LurtonVega-Sicilia 15 vintage MasterclassChâteau Palmer Masterclass dinnerOpus One 10 vintage MasterclassOlivier Krug MasterclassChâteau d’Issan MasterclassJudgement of Paris reenactment with Steven SpurrierMontfortino: the magnum years 1970-2008Château Angelus MasterclassPenfolds Masterclass dinner with Peter GagoWines of Portugal Masterclass with Christian SeelyCatena Zepata Masterclass with Laura CatenaFood is by no means an afterthought. Our Head Chef, Marcus Verberne and his team have created a ‘modern European’ menu featuring an ever-changing range of seasonal, locally sourced produce to complement our extensive wine list. Those who become Members not only gain access to a vast wealth of wine knowledge and resources, but also to a network of interesting, like-minded individuals who have one thing in common: a passion for wine. The Club attracts a diverse group of wine lovers from wide−ranging felds and professions, and the application process is simple. Candidates require a proposer and seconder from within the Club’s existing membership, and if not, provide a short biography so we can fnd someone in our existing membership to support thew application… We are looking forward to sharing our thoughts and opinions with Paddock Life readers over the next few issues, as we provide articles exploring some exciting wines, new events and vineyards as the global social calender unfolds. Should membership be of interest, please email our Membership Manager, Natacha on natacha@67pallmall.co.uk. I hope to raise a glass with you soon.
