With its long history as the centre of fne wine in the United Kingdom, St. James’s fttingly has a clubhouse where the world’s best wines are enjoyed and better understood by a select and discerning membership.St James’s traces its history back to the 1660s, when Henry Jermyn was given permission to develop the area centred on St James’s Square as an aristocratic residential quarter. As it evolved, St James’s became an important centre for tailors, cigar retailers, fne wine merchants and most of all, gentlemen’s clubs. Indeed, the district became so synonymous with the latter that it was dubbed ‘Clubland’. In 2010, Grant Ashton, our CEO & Founder, stepped inside what was then Hambros Bank and has since devoted himself to building the best private member’s wine Club in the world. The Club has created a home for oenophiles, with the concept of bottles forever locked away in cellars gathering dust his particular bête−noir. The Club’s mission is to entice our Members to pull the cork and discover a new wine…Housed within Sir Edwin Lutyens’ beautiful Grade II listed building, we offer our Members the opportunity to share their interest in the world’s fnest wines, amongst likeminded people, and for these bottles to be accessible, both physically and fnancially. We provide the perfect ambiance for enjoying some of the fnest and rarest wines the world has to offer.67 PALL MALLA PRIVATE MEMBERS’ CLUB LIKE NO OTHER – FOUNDED BY WINE LOVERS, FOR WINE LOVERS.Stephanie Westcott tells us all about it.
