DELTA UPSILON OMEGA

Seattle Alumnae Chapter Newsletter June 2017

           Good day Sorors,

Our summer slow-down is right around the corner and I’d like to just stop and reflect on the
phenomenal activities and events we have presented to this community

January started us off with Food lifeline, in February we did Pink Goes Red in fine style and rubbed
elbows with the NPHC with happy hour with the Delta’s, in March we kicked off fundraising efforts
with our Stay at Home Tea, in April we impacted the lives of young people and assisted their
parents with our ASCEND STEAM Youth Summit, and in May we repacked 14,000lbs of natural
unprocessed fruit for over 11,000 families, revitalized the AKA 1908 Playground at Damascus
Church in time for the children and the church’s annual picnic and celebrated our legacy of
leadership at our Sister to Sister Luncheon.

And to top it all off we’ve launched our beautiful newly revised website and updated social media
platforms with a brand spanking new chapter logo. In this chapter, we are truly blessed with an
awesome leadership team, each one is unique like a pearl on a necklace, they each bring
expertise, passion, heart, vision, dedication and leadership and together they make us more
powerful and more beautiful. While we do not have a budget big enough to provide financial
tokens to them for what they do but each of us can share our pride and words of great
appreciation to each of them for how they are representing and presenting us to the larger
community. Pink Tea roses to our chapter pearls of leadership! Thank you.

Our August 19 chapter retreat theme is Polishing our PEARLS - Protocol, Empowering Sisters,
Attaining skills for Leadership, Retention and Mentorship, Leadership and Sisterly Relationships
and Strategic Planning promises to be an enlightening and uplifting day please plan to come and
           share in the day.

We still have lots of ways to show this area what AKA is about, the Douglas-Truth Library Tea
celebrating 53 years of resources on African-American history and culture and with our SPADES
PARTY. In September, we’ll kick off ASCEND again, put a dent in childhood hunger on our October
community impact day. The year is still young and the balance of our annual activity calendar says
we’ll be busy. Sorors, I pray as we break for fun in the sun, you and your families will be blessed,
protected and highly favored. I thank you for your continued support, your work and commitment
           to excellence.

Have a great summer and God bless you all,

           Soror Brenda
