Chess Hotel
The Chess Hotel, located on Rue du Helder in Paris, has undergone a complete overhaul by talented design duo Gilles & Boissier and the result is a timeless retreat. Wearing the hats of architect, decorator and designer, Dorothée Boissier and Patrick Gilles were given carte blanche and designed everything from the largest piece of furniture – a cupboard, to the smallest accessory – a wall lamp. A degree of theatricality is presented in the public spaces while the 50 rooms reveal an intimate elegance. Each floor of the hotel has been given its own colour motif – think Persian blue, Ice blue, Yellow earth. The bathrooms are works of art in mosaics of pixellated geometries in pure black and white and art by Alix Waline, Victor Ash and Cyprien Chabert adorn the walls.
