SPACES
Down to earth
Where: White River
What: Surrounded by indigenous forests, this house treads lightly with minimal impact on its environment. Blending with nature, a stone wall is surrounded by water, which gently laps the home’s exterior. The earthy theme continues indoors, with glass, concrete, steel and wood throughout. Colours are gently mingled in like the cool blue wall of the kitchen and the warm colours of the dining area. Brightly coloured sofas and carpets are off-set by cool white reclining chairs. A standout feature is the glass- encased wine cellar. Textures and fabrics emulate nature and every item in the house has been carefully chosen or made especially, like the entrance hall table created from the root of a tree. The outdoor pool and patio area house the braai, lounge and dining area and make the most of expansive views.
