Under the stars
Where: Lion Sands Game Reserve
What: The Treehouses
Lion Sands boasts a number of gorgeous treehouses, all pictured here, but we love the Chalkley Treehouse (top left) for its great story. In the 1920s an Irish American named Guy Chalkley followed the gold rush to South Africa and purchased a property that is today the Lion Sands Game Reserve. Chalkley once set up camp in a centuries-old Leadwood tree to escape predators, hence the name of this treehouse. One of four, this spectacular treehouse is set up high on a secure platform under the stars. An African experience like none other, expect all the creature comforts.
