Naturally neutral
Where: Nelspruit
What: Nestled in a cherished conservancy with views of the Barberton valley in the distance, the house reflects a Zen- like discipline and attention to detail. The tin roof, wooden windows and traditional wrap-around verandas speak of a relaxed, country-style design. Lime-washed, double volume timber ceilings create a cool and spacious ambience. Careful consideration has been given to lighting to ensure that electric light has minimal impact on the bush and its nocturnal wildlife. Pale walls and neutral cement floors are emboldened by throws and cushions in rich, earthy shades. Quirky, rustic décor details are grounded by the owners’ antique cabinets and desks and the large kiaat butcher’s block in the kitchen.
