Kata Team Prepares for Competition
A series of speciic trainings, narrowing in on the needs of the junior and senior national kata teams in preparation for upcoming events took place at the annual Kata National
Team Training Camp (KNTC) held Aug 11-14, 2016 in Steveston, BC.
This training camp was led by National Team Kata Head Coach Katarina Vadovicova with the assistance of National Team Para-Karate Head Coach Heather Fidyk and of Assistant National Team Kata Coach Pam Ross.
The Junior Team athletes
worked hard on inalizing their preparations for
the Junior Pan American Championships held at the end of August in Guayaquil,
Ecuador, while Senior Team members prepared for the subsequent German Open Karate-1 Championships in September and Senior World Championships in Linz, Austria.
National Team Para-Karate Athlete Natalie Olson trained with both teams, as she prepared for her second appearance at the Senior World Championships.
Over the course of the four- day camp, each team member was involved in a variety of sessions including technical training, physical training and itness testing.
Each of the athletes trained dedicatedly and as a cohesive unit, and continued to push their abilities forward while working through the designated kata program.
The team spirit and unity in the group was evident, and continues to grow steadily ever since.
This National Team is ready to reach for much more. Bring it on, 2017!
