The decision, by the International Olympic Committee Executive Board represents yet another groundbreaking moment for the ancient discipline after its inclusion in the program of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which was conirmed by the 129th IOC Session in August.
The World Karate Federation and the sport of Karate will have the opportunity to showcase the impact and strength of its millions of young practitioners in the next edition of the Youth Olympic Games.
The city of Buenos Aires will host the event from Oct. 1-12, 2018.
Also added to the program are dance sport and sport climbing.
The change was inspired by the success of the Nanjing 2014 Sports Lab and is in line with the Buenos Aires 2018 mission to
“ bring sport to the people.”
