Compensation & Pay Practices
Compensation Philosophy
To effectively attract and retain the most qualified employees, Erbe’s compensation philosophy is to provide market competitive, performance-focused total compensation opportunities.
3-1. Introductory Employment Period
Erbe does not utilize an introductory period for new employees. Employment is at-will and the company retains the right to make employment decisions without regard to length of service or tenure. At the end of the first 90 – 180 days of employment, an initial performance appraisal may be conducted at the discretion of the manager.
3-2. Pay & Pay Methods
Erbe will compensate employees for all time worked. To ensure proper payment, employees must review their pay stubs promptly to identify and report any errors. Employees who believe that there has been an error with pay or benefits must bring those concerns to the attention of their direct manager or the Human Resources Department within ten (10) business days.
Requests for paid time off should be completed in as far in advance as possible with the exception of sick pay for an unexpected illness, which should be requested as soon as possible after returning to work. All paid time used within a specific pay period should be submitted prior to the end of the pay period.
Paychecks will only be released to the employee who has earned the pay, unless the employee authorizes in writing that the paycheck is to be mailed or released to another person.
Erbe offers direct deposit as a means for employees to receive their pay. Employees who select this option will be provided a statement of wages, which is available to employees one (1) day prior to the pay date. Please refer to the Erbe Human Resources Portal for these statements.
3-3. Pay Periods and Pay Schedule
Employees are paid on a semi-monthly basis, which is generally on the 15th and last day of each month. In the event that a regularly scheduled payday falls on a weekend or holiday, employees will receive their pay on the last business day immediately prior to the regularly scheduled payday. All employees are strongly encouraged to receive pay through direct deposit.
Exempt or salaried employees are paid for work performed on a current basis, meaning no salary is held in arrears. Newly hired non-exempt or hourly employees receive a pay advance of 80 hours on their first paycheck, to effectively be paid on a current basis. This initial advance is deducted from the employee’s last paycheck, upon termination. The company does not offer any other pay advances or personal loans.
