Employee Timekeeping
4-1. Employee Classifications
Erbe classifies employees in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and all applicable state and local wage and hour laws. All overtime pay and meal breaks are administered in accordance with these laws. Employees informed of classification at the time of hire, and of any subsequent changes to that classification. Employees with questions about their classification, how it impacts benefits eligibility, or any changes in classification, must contact the Human Resources Department.
4-2. Employee Status
Full-Time Employees
Full-time employees are those who are regularly scheduled to work more than thirty (30) hours each work week. Full-time employees are eligible for all company benefits, subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations of each individual benefit program or policy.
Part-Time Employees
Part-time employees are those who are regularly scheduled to work less than thirty (30) hours each workweek. Part-time employees who work at least one thousand, five hundred and sixty hours (1,560) in a calendar year are eligible to participate in all legally-required benefits.
Temporary Employees
Temporary employees who are retained directly by Erbe are not typically eligible for benefits, except where required by federal or state law. Temporary employees should contact Human Resources for more information about their status and potential eligibility.
Timekeeping Procedures
All hourly employees are required to report all time worked and all time not worked (including breaks and meal periods) during scheduled work periods. This is essential for the proper processing of payroll and to ensure accurate accruals for vacation and benefits.
Altering, falsifying, or tampering with time records is prohibited.
Exempt (salaried) employees are required to record and report full- or half-day of absences from work for reasons such as bereavement, jury duty, or paid-time off. For incidental time-off (i.e. less than 4 hours), there is no requirement to record or track.
4-3. Breaks
Unless otherwise required by state or local law, all non-exempt employees are required to take at least a thirty-minute meal break daily. Non-exempt employees are required to clock out for any break period in excess of 20 minutes; however, employees are allowed two 20-minute break periods for which that requirement does not exist. Non-exempt employees should not perform any work
