2019-2020 NJCAA CASEBOOK




                                                           FOREWORD
                 This Casebook is a supplement to Articles V, VI, VII, XI, and XVIII of the NJCAA bylaws.
                The cases shall be used for official interpretations and are binding after their publication
                                              and circulation to the membership.

               2019 – 2020 Eligibility Bylaw Changes
               The following is a summary of significant bylaws passed by the NJCAA Board of Regents, which are binding for the 2019-2020
               academic year:

                   A.  Academic Progress

                       The Board of Regents approved a change to Article V, Section 2.C.1 regarding the 15  calendar day and full-time
                       enrollment.  This new bylaw allows student-athlete to be enrolled full-time or part-time by the 18  calendar day of the

                       term (not to end on a weekend or Federal Holiday.  Student-athletes must be enrolled full-time prior to participation.

                   B.  Online Compliance Certification – Article I, Section 3.C.1
                       With the new NJCAA Connect system we are beginning the transition to paperless with allowing audit document to be
                       uploaded to NJCAA Connect. The 2019-2020 academic year it will not be required to upload the documents in NJCAA
                       Connect.  However, in 2020-2021 it will be required to upload all audit documents in NJCAA Connect.

                   C.  Beach Volleyball
                       Beach Volleyball will begin in the 2019-2020 academic year. It is a spring sport and the season will be January 10 –
                       April 30 .  It is not yet a championship sport so there will not be a national championship.

                   D.  Social Media Policy “Click Don’t Type” – Article VI, Section 2.F
                       The Board of Regents approved a new social medial policy, “Click Don’t Type”.  This bylaw will help clarify what is
                       allowable for college staff to do before a prospective student-athlete is signed to an NJCAA Letter of Intent.
