— Thesis —
As Christianity emerged at the crossways of Judaism and Hellenism, the splendid Stoas of Hellenism’s hours allegorized Hermes’ mytho-poetic genius as Λόγος, rewriting and blurring Hermes’ wily spark, and Yahweh’s mythic Word written in Heaven’s arc. Once Yahweh’s ergative Word was assimilated by Stoicism’s Λόγος through Hermes-λόγος, it sung of divine creation arising out of divine reason, in the form Grecians reasoned best: God gazes at the idea-in-itself within (a Philonism) or without Himself (a Platonism). In so doing, Judaism’s divine creation’s gaze, veiled by Stoicism’s Λόγος, ceases to proclaim creation out of Yahweh’s effortless, spontaneous mytho-poetic Word, filled with Yahweh’s immanent salvation presence, as manifested in the trials and endurance of His elect nation in the Old and the New Covenant. A chosen nation whose patriarchs were divinely called to cross over deserts, rivers and seas towards a Promised Land, beneath God’s Covenant’s Ark in Liberty’s Hand.
