temperamental Yahweh (before reconciling Himself through Christ), is a throw of the dice:103 sometimes mortals win, sometimes they lose, just as Job, Daniel and his three friends do. Indeed, Hermes can be as whimsical as Yahweh is with Job’s children and flocks, “...if he so wishes he... can multiply small flocks or diminish them...”104
Hermes’ ambiguous motions mediate, too, amidst immortals and mortals. As nimble herald to the Olympians, He dwells in the midst of every event and every being, carrying the Grecian divine Word and its revelations to mortals. As Stoicism’s herald of God, Hermes nimbly brings, or emanates to the world the Word of the Maker whose Wise-Spirit, dwelling beyond the zenith’s zenith, commands all things into being through His spontaneous omnific Word. Yet God’s wise omnific Word need neither be mediated nor emanated, per se, as Philo and Church Fathers argue, for its spirit-breath spontaneously indwells in all of history and in all created things. His transcendental Word manifests a spontaneous divine omnipresence, not only in all created things, but also in every event of history, binding Creator with His Creation.
God’s omnific Word, spontaneously being carried within God’s creation, is also being revealed to whom He chooses directly
