I vowed that if, and when, I went back “south” I would be involved as much as possible in our associations. I did just that, first with the AGSA and now the CGSA. Most importantly, I still feel the same way I did when I was up north, our resources are so important to what we do as a Superintendent. The friends and lifelong colleagues I have made along the way are a bonus to all the learning I have taken from them. Never stop learning and become involved or continue to be involved in our great golf industry.
We are excited to partner with NGCOA Canada to bring the GEO Sustainable Golf Program to Canada. CGSA is pleased to have the GEO Golf Foundation at our upcoming conference speaking about our joint program with the NGCOA Canada and CGSA. Attend their session or visit their trade show booth to learn how this initiative can support the business of golf, stewardship of courses, and image of the sport. This initiative introduces new solutions for sustainability and climate action. Core components include free provision of GEO’s OnCourse Program, access to scorecards and carbon footprints, communication strategies, access to a data bank,
awards and accreditation, and member support. Climate change and loss of biodiversity are concerns across society and, as land managers, we have an important role to play. This program provides recognition for the stewardship work that our superintendents deliver, while our industry demonstrates to society and governments that golf is an effective environmental leader. It is almost time for The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference in Montreal. This is shaping up to be a great event in the beautiful city of Montreal. The conference committee has done a great job putting the program together. It is great to partner with the QGSA again on this event, and it complements our recent partnership with the QGSA in the association management. We look forward to continue the work the QGSA has done for Superintendents in Quebec. No matter if this will be your first or tenth conference take it all in. See you there! GM
